The proposed Strategic Development Area (SDA) being proposed North East of Kibworth Harcourt by a consortium that included Merton College, Oxford, and the Leicester Diocesan Board of Finance (local landowners) has not been recommended as one of the options to go forward to the new Local Plan by HDC planners.

Comprises the following parishes: East Langton;  Kibworth Beauchamp; Kibworth Harcourt; Shangton; Smeeton Westerby; Thorpe Langton; Tur Langton;  West Langton

Area: 4,030 hectares.  Electorate 2002: 4,911 in 8 parishes

The most populated ward at the southern end of the division lies, more or less, between the A6 trunk road and B6047 and includes Kibworth Beauchamp (2011: 4,065; households = 1,702; electorate March 2004 was 3,085), Kibworth Harcourt (2011: 1,368; households = 1,074; electorate January 2005 was 837) and Smeeton Westerby (2001: 340; households = 149) together with 5 parishes from the LangtonsShangton (149), Tur Langton (172), West Langton (128; households = 40), East Langton incl. Church Langton (351; households = 142), Thorpe Langton (171; households = 71).

Kibworth Ward unemployment data for October 2012: Kibworth (54 or 1.4% overall): Males 30 (1.6%), Females 24 (1.2%).
